How the project started
The recommendation started with the condition.
Insurance wanted a closer look.
After the home was purchased, concerns raised during a home inspection prompted the insurer to request a professional roof inspection. The homeowners called TopDog.
Two hours spent understanding the roof.
We provided a free, detailed inspection lasting approximately two hours. The findings documented the roof’s condition and included an estimate of its remaining service life. We also examined the decking from inside the attic and found it to be in good condition.
Three failing layers came off.
After reviewing the inspection, the homeowners scheduled a replacement. We removed three layers of failing three tab shingles. The old roof had severe weathering and UV damage, nail pops and exposed fasteners. The rake edges also had no drip edge.

What went into this roof

We installed a CertainTeed Integrity Roof System in Moire Black, along with new perimeter metal, underlayment, chimney flashing and a front rain diverter.
Black drip edge around the perimeter
New black drip edge was installed around the entire roof perimeter, including the rake edges where it had been missing.
VYCOR Select protection
Six feet of VYCOR Select ice and water protection was installed at the eaves, with additional protection at sidewalls and roof penetrations.
CertainTeed RoofRunner
We covered the remainder of the roof deck with CertainTeed RoofRunner synthetic underlayment before installing the new shingles.
New lead chimney flashing
The chimney received new lead flashing as part of the roof replacement.
Moire Black shingles
CertainTeed shingles in Moire Black gave the home a consistent finished appearance across its roof sections.
A new front rain diverter
We installed a new black rain diverter at the front of the home.
Sound decking. Sufficient ventilation.
The decking was in good condition and had been examined from the attic during the inspection. Existing ventilation was sufficient, so no additional ventilation was installed.
